Reading the documents
What each document does and does not cover
Compliance packs are easier to trust when the boundaries are stated up front.

ISO 9001 is a management system certificate
It covers how quality is managed at the named site and scope. It is not a product certification and does not approve a specific tin for a specific use.

SMETA is a social audit, not a certificate
It reports on labour, health and safety, environment and business ethics at the time of the visit. Findings can be open; we send the current status, not a closed-looking printout.

Material reports cover one material each
A tinplate report and an ink report are separate documents. The SGS report we hold covers the tinplate and four restricted metals; it does not cover the ink system or the finished container.

Food-contact suitability is assessed per project
Whether a finished tin suits direct food contact depends on the tinplate, the coating and the inks together. Tell us your market and we will tell you which documents we hold and what should be tested.
